PRESIDENTIAL POWER

Who have been the most significant and successful leaders in the Middle East? How did they acquire power and what did they do with it? These were the questions I dealt with in my most recent article, “Political time and leadership in the Middle East: an analysis of 22 prominent leaders”, which was published by the British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies in July.

The article deals with several issues, including the framework for assessing leadership, the 22 leaders themselves and their legacy, both in terms of the political system they left behind and their impact on development. In this way, I was able to identify those who may be considered “successful” as well as areas for future work.
